The Saint Edmond’s Academy athletic teams enjoy a field house; gym; soccer field; baseball field and batting cage; and a 400 meter all-weather track. Students participate in athletics all year-round, giving them multiple chances to experience a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
Philosophy
Saint Edmond's Academy firmly believes that a complete education includes a balanced development of a student's mind, body and spirit.
The athletic department at Saint Edmond's Academy offers numerous opportunities for the development of the physical talents of every student. Each student is encouraged to become involved in the interscholastic or intramural athletic programs of the Academy.
The students at Saint Edmond's Academy are expected to:
Follow the principles of good sportsmanship,
- Exhibit good behavior and sustain the sportsmanship tradition before, during and after a contest, no matter how intense the competition,
- Encourage his teammates,
- Not protest a decision of a game official or coach,
- Not ridicule an opponent,
- Congratulate his opponent after a contest and
- Always play to win honestly and accept defeat with dignity.
The same conduct is expected of the Academy’s coaches, parents and spectators.
Anyone interested in trying out for a particular team must have a physical report on file in the medical office and must have their permission forms signed and handed in by the specified date on the form.
Saint Edmond's Academy has adopted a no-cut policy for all of our interscholastic athletic teams. Although we have a no-cut policy, tryouts are held for most of our teams. Tryouts are meant to determine the best make-up of a particular team. This does not always mean the best players make the top level team. Saint Edmond's Academy's athletic program is designed to give all students the opportunity to develop skills, experience the meaning of the word team and compete against their peers from other schools.
