Dear Friends,
You have taken the first virtual step into the world of Saint Edmond's Academy, and we warmly welcome you to a high-energy community of learners! After 53 years of educating boys, now from grades Junior Kindergarten through eighth, we, as teachers and staff, still learn new and different things each year. As coach and guide, we help our students to explore their worlds, finding their untapped potential to assess the world around them, to understand truth, and to allow their creativity expand in questioning and solving problems that matter and make a difference.
We can only accomplish this adventure together with the complete support of all of the members of the school community, including parents and friends. All of us play a vital part in the holistic development of each student entrusted to our care at the Academy. Those who live and work for the good of the Academy have a deep and personal understanding of what a Holy Cross education means and how it is unique and successfully administered. In essence, we believe that the mind cannot be cultivated at the expense of the heart. Students graduated from Saint Edmond's Academy have the skills and the knowledge, as well as the values and character to be successful learners. Love of learning as well as love and concern for one another are complementary forces that are woven into the daily life of the students and their families.
Whether you are visiting with us for the first time, you are back for another look, or you are “coming home” after having been away for a time, we hope that you will come to the campus to meet the Lancers – the students – and their support team – the teachers and staff. Proud of their school, the students are anxious to share what they are learning and to have you join the conversation. You pick the topic – from finding and drawing geometrical shapes on campus with our junior kindergarten students, “skyping” about the human skeleton with the nursing staff at regional hospital and our third grade class, discussing ways to improve our environment with sixth grade students, or perhaps being interviewed by the crew of our TV studio for an upcoming morning show. The topics are limitless, as are the reservoirs of skills and talents among the members of the school community. While we face global challenges that affect the smallest of our communities and families, we believe that at Saint Edmond's Academy, we are helping to create great minds which will meet the challenges and help create a positive vision for the future.
Thank you for your interest in Saint Edmond's Academy!
Sincerely,
Brother Michael A. Smith, C.S.C.
