FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL
Dear SEA Families,
I recently saw a cute posting on Facebook.  A mom wrote, “My kids will walk right past their father sitting on the couch and come bang on the shower door for me to open a fruit snack.”  Picturing that made me laugh out loud!  I apologize to all the amazing dads out there, but it can be so true!  It was the same way when I was growing up.  My parents are both amazing people.  But if I need something, even today, I go to my mom first.  If she says no, I will still ask dad.  Some things never change in the dynamics of children and their parents- regardless of age!  My mom still does everything for all of us.  Even at the wise age of 75 (she will not appreciate her age having been listed here), my mom calls her children every day.  Sure, she talks to my youngest brother the most, but that’s a topic (‘favorites’) for another. JOIN US ON THURSDAY, 2/23 at 6:30pm
One of Beau Biden's favorite things to do as Attorney General was to talk to kids about online safety. Over the course of 8 years, Beau spoke in scores of schools, to over 25k students. The Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children proudly continues his work. By partnering with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Foundation is able to bring NCMEC’s NetSmartz® Workshop suite of programs in to Delaware’s schools. NetSmartz® Workshop covers good digital citizenship, online safety, and the dangers of cyber bullying. The Foundation can address these issues with age appropriate videos, games, lessons and tip sheets. The Foundation’s presentation for parents addresses these same issues, helps parents understand what their kids do online, and addresses ways to foster healthy conversations with children about digital safety. Please attend this important presentation at SEA on Thursday, February 23rd at 6:30pm. Brings guests!
