FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL
Dear SEA Families,
After the TerraNova debacle this past year (i.e. never receiving our parent reports), the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington will no longer use TerraNova as the standardized test. THURSDAY DR. SEUSS CELEBRATION
The Academy will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss this Thursday, March 1st with our Read Across America celebration. We've made a few changes to the event this year. The date has been moved to avoid serving meat on a Friday during Lent. Also new this year-- the cafeteria will be serving 'Green Eggs & Ham' for lunch on Thursday. JK - 3rd grade boys are encouraged to wear a silly hat on Thursday. This hat may be something you make, buy or already own.  Our 'School-Wide Buddy Reading Event' will take place at 10:00am.  It is sure to be a fun day!
LENTEN REFLECTION
The Congregation of Holy Cross remind all of us of the hope and wisdom of the cross. As we approach the season of Lent, it is good to reflect on our call to embrace the cross of Jesus by self- denial and the traditional Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. The Lord Jesus calls us, His disciples, to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him."    -- Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades

AUDITIONS SIGNUPS TAKING PLACE
Believe it or not, we are looking way ahead to our next theatrical endeavor. Plans are being made for a short play based on local ghost stories to be presented at the SEA Halloween Spooktacular in October. Any interested 5th, 6th or 7th grader is welcome to audition on March 9th during Enrichment (E day). It is a non-singing play. Why are these auditions so early? Because to be ready in October, cast members will have to be available two days in August (8/20 & 8/21) for rehearsals. Parents may be making vacation plans and would need to plan around these two dates if their son was cast. Students should please contact Ms. DeHart know if they plan to audition.
