FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL
Dear SEA Families,

Do you remember the reading from Luke where Jesus and his disciples are on a lake and high winds create chaos and the boat started to fill with water? In this story, the fishermen wake the carpenter for help! Jesus asks, “Where is your faith?” Really what I always thought was Jesus was asking, “Where is your confidence?” As we enter the third trimester, I often hear students worry about tests and quizzes. They somehow seem to lose confidence in themselves. Students need to know we believe they can be successful. It is our job, as teachers, to show them that we have confidence in them. I believe this is what Jesus was trying to do with his disciples- remind them that they are capable and have the skills to face the storm. As we approach the last few months, let’s remind our students and children that they are capable.

What a week! When it is December, I am beyond excited for snow to start falling, a true winter wonderland. Come March, I do not appreciate snow. Snow should not fall in March. And yet, every year it seems, March is full of surprises…and too much snow. Creates quite the week. First, we had a snow day and a two-hour delay this week. We had to rearrange field trips and schedules to make this week work. My mom, who turned 76 on March 5th, was gracious enough to work the Front Office. How about your first day on the job and we are under a two-hour delay? She is a trooper!

I know I spoke about it before, but the students in grades 4-7 will be taking the ERB standardized test in April. We just placed our order and hoping all arrives on time. As soon I receive a confirmation on the shipping date, we will send out the dates. We are looking at the week of April 16th.

Thank you for the many of you who attended the BBC Guest Bartender Night. It is so much fun to just be together as a community and enjoy each other’s company. The BBC bartenders were saying that we brought in one of the largest crowds ever. It is a such a happy event. If you didn’t have a chance yet to attend the BBC night, please mark it on your calendar…it is worth it!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Tricia
