FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL
Dear SEA Families,
Yesterday I had the honor of travelling with the Beau Biden Foundation to NYC to speak on behalf of SEA because we were one of the first private school partnerships established with them.
As I spoke to the large audience about how the foundation guided us through child safety laws and procedures, I learned how ahead of the game we are in protecting children here. We now require federal fingerprinting and checks on child predator registry lists for every teacher, staff, coach and volunteer who join the SEA community. We have updated all our personnel handbooks to align with best practices and state regulations. We have provided training to our faculty and staff (and are continuing to train our coaches) on recognizing, reporting and understanding abuse or signs of abuse. The Shield of Protection has helped SEA institute best practices in the protection of your son. I am very grateful for this partnership and believe strongly this foundation is making a difference.

As the month of May begins, there is so much to remember…and if you are anything like me, it is getting harder and harder to keep it all straight. I think it was Mark Twain who said it first, “Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.” Some days can really make me feel this way. Please check the school website’s calendar! Mrs. Rubio is doing her best to keep this up-to-date but we are adding/changing things on an almost daily basis. I do have to warn you, though--having a senior athlete this year-the calendars only get worse as your son gets older! We just all need to remember to help each other out, as we are all members of the SEA village.

Have an amazing weekend with family and friends,
Tricia
JK RETURNS TO SEA + OPEN HOUSE TUESDAY
We are delighted to announce that SEA's Junior Kindergarten program returns for AY 2019-2020. Since 2009, the JK program has been a fantastic early entry point to a student's SEA journey. We already have an increase in prospective interest for JK in Fall, but if you know of any families whose son turns 4 by 8/3,  ask them to contact Pete in Admissions.

Please spread the word about our Lower School Open House this Wuesday, 5/7 from 9-10am. The purpose of this event is to showcase our lower school in a dedicated Open House format for those prospective families considering a Catholic, independent school for next year.
