FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL

Dear SEA Families,
We're excited about the enhancements we're making to our team uniforms and sports gear.  It will include a cross and anchor (placed on the back of the shirt between the shoulder blades). Even though the symbol is already part of the boys’ actual school uniforms, we want to remind them of the meaning of the Holy Cross symbol and intend to spend time during Monday Morning Meeting discussing its significance with the boys. In the 1840s, Moreau used the original design, a large anchor with a sash or ribbon encompassing the anchor. The anchor symbolizes that the Cross is the anchor for Christian faith.  Father Moreau eventually modified the emblem to a simple Cross with two anchors crossed, hence-
a Cross to which shall be fixed two anchors.” This powerful symbol and message is the visual for the Holy Cross faith. We believe this symbol should be part of the SEA landscape moving forward.

The first week of May is over. We are approaching crunch time!  Take a deep breath and help your sons remain focused these last weeks of school.  For grades 6-8, schedules and study guides will be posted by late next week.  Please keep in mind, the week before exams is a study week during classes.  Every teacher will review the study guide in class.  It is up to your son to continue the studying process.  All missing assignments must be completed.  Homework counts at this level, and it is critical for the boys to understand this responsibility. The boys will need your help to stay focus as the days get longer and warmer.
Have a wonderful weekend. I am off to my first of many Senior graduation events, the Mother-Son Liturgy & Breakfast kicks off the fun!

Take Care, Tricia
