Dear SEA Families,
Today we celebrated our first 2017-2018 Liturgy together as a community of faith. We were very fortunate to have Bishop Malooly presiding alongside of Fr. Kirk. We also observed the tenth anniversary of the beautification of Blessed Basile Moreau, the founder of the Holy Cross Congregation. If you have never read about Moreau, he is worth the time. He grew up during the turmoil of the French Revolution. As a very young man he felt a strong desire to revitalize a Church devastated by the Revolution. But ... HOMEROOM MOMS  
We now have a homeroom mom (or two!) for each classroom. Thanks a million! Our first classroom party assignment will be Halloween (being celebrated on Halloween, 10/31) Parties are last period (1:40-2:38pm). Moms can drop off whenever but nothing can be set up before 1:25pm.

LANCER DASH 5K

Our inaugural Lancer Dash 5K Run/Walk is just one week from tomorrow! Come join us (Saturday, 9/23) for a beautiful run/walk through the campus and surrounding areas of Arden & Ardentown. Register here now! Volunteers needed! Adults and students are needed to assist with all aspects of the run. Students can earn (required in upper form) SEA Service Hours for their volunteerism. Homecoming Weekend is almost here. NEXT FRIDAY--September 22nd is Grandparents' Day is a week from today. Registration in the Anthony N. Fusco, Sr. Great Hall begins at 9:30am. Please be sure your son's loved one is signed up to join his/her favorite Lancer here that morning. NEXT Saturday, September 23rd at 9am, we are hosting our inaugural Lancer Dash 5K run/walk.  Register here! On Saturday evening join us for A Knight in the Courtyard, an adults-only social. ACADEMY PERFORMING ARTS NEWS
ARCHMERE'S MASTERSINGERS
Congrats to our Academy Choral alumni for their acceptance into Mastersingers! The tenors are Jack deBruin‘18, Joseph Marino‘21, Riley McAvinue‘20, Matthew Witterholt ‘19. The Bass Singers are Bennett Brooks (I)‘21, Michael Devine (I)‘18, Max Iacono (I)‘21, Anthony Penna (II)‘19, Joseph Raziano (II)‘21.  Students are encouraged to join our choral program by registering for Academy Singers (if invited), Men's Ensemble (changed voices only) or Academy Chorus. The majority of male Mastersingers at Archmere received their early training here at SEA! Mastersingers competed in Chicago in March 2017 and placed 2nd in the United States. Well done, SEA alums! We are proud of you!

WILMINGTON DRAMA LEAGUE
Godspell
at Wilmington Drama League will feature several familiar SEA faces.  present "Godspell", Revised 2012 version this weekend and next. It was directed by alumni and current parent Chris Turner and the pit conductor is our own Miss Angela Cascione.

DONATIONS and ACTORS NEEDED
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to act in the haunted house on Saturday, October 21st from 6-9pm.
Actors must be in grades 7 or 8 at least and must have a parent willing to accompany them. Convey your interest no later than 9/20 by email or text (302-753-0690) to Denise Grenda (Nick '18) to sign up. We are hoping for your donations of  scary costumes, masks and large stuffed animals.

FROM THE THOMAS P. SWEENEY LIBRARY
We will kick off the Box Top year by sponsoring our first Blitz the week of September 25th-29th. Send your box tops in (be sure to write your son's name and homeroom info on the baggie) The Blitz will have an individual winner and a winning homeroom. Last year, we exceeded our goal by nearly $100, so this year we are aggressively setting a goal of $1,200. We'll need every family to participate. A special ‘thank you’ to the Barry, Booth, Galemore, Hancox, Kelleher, Luzader, McGhee and Vaught families for their recent donations.

Lost and Found Items
Please label all of your son’s belongings using a permanent marker. There are collections of lost and found articles in two designated areas at school. After a reasonable amount of time, items still remaining are given to a charitable organization.
STUDENT SERVICE HOURS UPDATE
Campus Work Service Hours are now available. These opportunities make it easy for students to get their required SEA service hours completed without troubling a parent to drive them anywhere. Please encourage your son to complete his hours in a timely fashion. Students should email Mr. Will Broelmann.

 SOCIAL SKILLS EDUCATION PROGRAM

Founded in 1949, Jon D. Williams Cotillions programs was established to instruct young people in social skills and dance education. The goal of their programs is to convince students that social skills are instrumental to their education and essential in developing successful relationships. 97% of JDWC students believe the classes have better prepared them for their future, and 97% of their parents believe the skills learned will have a positive impact on their child’s future social relationships and career.
