Politics, hurricanes, volcanos, earthquakes, killings, National Anthem- all headlines in the news this week. Holy Cross schools such as SEA, believe in Father Moreau’s words: “We shall always place education side by side with instruction; the mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart.” If there is one line I believe the most it is this powerful phrase of educating the heart is just as important as the mind. Everyone is talking about the SEA Guest Bartender Social NEXT THURSDAY (10/5) from 6-9pm at the BBC Tavern & Grill. The bartenders are competing among themselves to see who will earn the most tips. Bring the family out for dinner; We even get a portion of those proceeds.

'TRUNK OR TREAT' HOSTS and HELPERS
We have a wonderfully ghoulish idea brewing...so why not join the fun and be our guest at the SEA Halloween Spooktacular? We are looking for 'Trunk or Treat' hosts and some helpers for the Dark Lancer Castle ticket sales booth. Please sign-up (sooner is better if you want a tailgate spot) by clicking here. ***Trunk or Treaters, we invite you to arrive earlier than the start to get settled and decorate your trunk, etc. Please also account for the very real possibility of many, many trunk or treaters when purchasing your candy/goodies!

PLEASE BE REMINDED!
Due to a new State of Delaware law, CYM sports leagues now mandates that this form be signed in order to be eligible to play any sport! If your son is planning to play a winter sport, get a head start because this will 100% delay his eligibility. He may not try out or practice without you taking care of this before October 16th. CYM and SEA thank you!
ACADEMY PERFORMING ARTS NEWS

DRAMA ADVENTURE ENRICHMENT CLASS
Original short play, What'cha Gonna Do? will be produced with the cast drawn from the Drama Adventure enrichment class for grades 4-8. Written by Ms. DeHart, this play relates to environmental concerns and awareness. It takes inspiration from The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind to be part of the solution of a problem by becoming educated, taking action, and moving toward innovative thinking.
CHORAL PERFORMANCE NEEDS ACCOMPANIST
We are also looking for experienced musical performers who play cello or French horn to accompany a choral piece for Christmas. Musician will prepare on their own with minimal rehearsal time with choirs.
UNITED STATES MARINE BAND PERFORMS
On Sunday, October 29that 3pm, "The President's Own" United States Marine Band will perform a national tour concert at Mt. Pleasant High School in Wilmington. Tickets are free, but are required to guarantee entrance. Click here to get your tickets. Feel free to share this info as the USMC only performs tour concerts in this region every 5 years.
2017-2018 STUDENT HANDBOOK NOTE
Early Dismissals
Students who need an early dismissal must be signed out by a parent in the Main Office. Students may not exit the building to meet a parent, guardian or sibling in the car out front. Whenever possible, parents should communicate the early dismissal in time for the day’s attendance report issued at 9:30am each day.
Parents should call the Main Office or email attendance@stedmondsacademy.org
Please do not email early dismissal info to teachers. They are most likely unable to read your email in time.

 SOCIAL SKILLS EDUCATION PROGRAM

Founded in 1949, Jon D. Williams Cotillions programs was established to instruct young people in social skills and dance education. The goal of their programs is to convince students that social skills are instrumental to their education and essential in developing successful relationships. 97% of JDWC students believe the classes have better prepared them for their future, and 97% of their parents believe the skills learned will have a positive impact on their child’s future social relationships and career.
