FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Academy Families,
Years ago, a dear friend gave me a bracelet with the word ‘courage’ engraved on it. I can’t even remember why she gave me this bracelet. I just know I needed it at the time, and I still cherish it today. In times of uncertainty or challenge, I take the bracelet out of its box and reflect. Anthony Penna ‘15, an ‘SEA Lifer’ spent nine years here as a Lancer. I can still see him walking down the hallway with his perfectly knotted tie and pristine red blazer. His lapel was full of the gold pins he earned. Dave Derrickson, our Facilities Manager, recalled several afternoons when Anthony helped him assemble the benches donated by Rob and Mel Penna as they led the rehabilitation and redesign of the Academy’s Courtyard. Dave was so touched by a student that age taking the time (and maintaining the focus!) to help him complete this project in his free time. This week many of us have recalled our own experiences with Anthony. So much of what we’ve recalled has had the same tone. He was a kind and thoughtful young man. 'TRUNK OR TREAT' HOSTS & HELPERS
We are looking for 'Trunk or Treat' hosts and some helpers for the Dark Lancer Castle ticket sales booth. Please sign-up by clicking here. ***Trunk or Treaters, we invite you to arrive earlier than the start to get settled and decorate your trunk, etc. Please also account for the very real possibility of many, many trunk or treaters when purchasing your candy/goodies!

Due to a new State of Delaware law, CYM sports leagues now mandates that this form be signed in order to be eligible to play any sport! This will 100% delay his eligibility to try out or practice without you taking care of this before October 16th.
PERFORMING ARTS NOTES
TALENT SHOW AUDITIONS Auditions for our annual talent show will be held Monday, October 16th at 6pm in the auditorium. TheTalent Show is Thursday, November 9th. More information will be available next week CHORAL

PERFORMANCE NEEDS ACCOMPANIST
ISO an experienced musical performers who play cello or French horn to accompany a choral piece for Christmas. Musician will prepare on their own with minimal rehearsal time with choirs.

Barnes & Noble Night will take place at the Concord Pike location on Tuesday, 11/28.
BOX TOPS TOP BLITZ RESULTS
This was a very close race! Only five Box Tops separated the first and second place homerooms! The overall winning homeroom with 426 Box Tops was Mrs. Oswinkle's 5-1. The individual winner was Noah Narvaez (8-2) with 354 Box Tops! In just one week the school collected $308.70 in Box Tops. Thank you so very much to all of the families who participated. It was our most successful collection week yet! Thanks yet again to Janice Lehmann for the energy and dedication she brings to this very important library program.
