Dear SEA Families,
This has been a difficult week for my family. My Uncle ‘Hub’ passed away. Hub is the dad of the cousin I lost this summer…both had pancreatic cancer. Grieving two giant losses on one side of the family within four months of each other has been just been beyond words. I just don’t understand this one. As sad as I am, I feel lucky to have so many vivid memories to call upon. For example- every Sunday we all went to Mass together and then drove a few houses down the road to eat breakfast at my grandparents. My dad had ten siblings –each of whom had children--so you can imagine that it was quite a feat  [Click here to finish reading.]

MID-POINT OF MARKING PERIOD
PARENT CONFERENCES
coincide with the release of progress reports at the midpoint of each trimester.  Please look out for the email being sent Tuesday around 7pm containing the links to the Signup Genius pages you'll use to arrange your own conference schedule. You do not need to make any appointments unless a teacher requests to see you in his/her comments. JK-Gr 3 conferences are 20 minutes. Gr 4-8 are 10 minutes each. Conferences are 5-7pm on Thursday, 11/1 and 8am-2pm on Friday, 11/2.  If you are unsure of where to find the PDF of your son's Progress Report, please refer to the SEA Portal Guide linked here.
 SEA CODE  + RETAKE DATE
If your son was absent for portrait day, please be reminded that the Barksdale studios are only about 20 minutes from SEA in Aston, PA. You can make an appointment at their studio or have your son photographed on our 'retake date' which is Thursday, January 10th. If you would like to order online, you'll use SEA Access Code 00590. Please Note-- Eighth graders receive a personalized 'proof' flier. We'll email you when they're distributed so you can be sure to get it from him. 
KIDNEY FOUNDATION WALK ON SUNDAY
Walk for those at risk. National Kidney Foundation's job is to find ways to improve and extend lives and your participation means they can continue being a lifeline. Join the D'Amato Family, donors, recipients and friends on 10/28 at the Riverfront. More info here.   7th & 8th grade students are invited to volunteer at this event. Please email Mrs. Hayes-Hartman.

SEA PERFORMING ARTS NEWS
HALLOWEEN PLAY
Halloween Day, marks the premiere of an original play. Things That Go Bump in the Night based on Delaware ghost stories and written by Ms. DeHart. The cast included John Lovett, Sam Wahl, Ian Gosse, Jack Maister, Michael Ciampoli, Jude Tingey, Colin Arcari, and Luke Hancox with special cameo appearances by Dr. Scott and Mr. Holsten. The play will be presented at 10:06am on 10/31 in the Rollins Center.
SEA CHOIRS AT THE DELAWARE ART MUSEUM
Men's Ensemble, Academy Chorus and Academy Singers will be represented at an invitational concert held at the Delaware Art Museum on Saturday, 12/8 from 9:45 to 10:15am. Singers are included on a first come, first served basis. Permission slips (click here) are required for all. Please don't delay. 
TALENT SHOW DRESS REHEARSAL
Monday, 11/5 from 6:00-8:00pm for the actual performance on Thursday, 11/8 at 6:30pm

HALLOWEEN SCHEDULE
Periods 1 and 2 are not affected. At 10:06, students attend the performance Things That Go Bump In the Night in the Rollins Center.  There are no changes to student lunch periods in any grade.  Period 5 (12:52-1:40): Students in grades 4-8 attend a shortened class period while the Lower Form gets dressed for the parade which is from 1:40-2:00 Halloween Parade. The parade's location varies from year-to-year based on weather but is often indoors. 2pm homeroom parties begin.

We collect Box Tops all year! Our first submission will be mailed in on Wednesday.
