GET INVOLVED SCHOOL CALENDAR GIVE
FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Academy Families,
This week at Monday Morning Meeting, we reviewed the difference between a soft lockdown (everyone remains in the building) and a lockdown (where a stranger has entered the building or is very close outside the building). Tuesday, we completed a lockdown drill, where classrooms are locked and students are removed from windows and doorways. Why do we practice lockdowns? If there was ever a threat here, we need the boys, faculty, and staff to know what to do without thinking. It cannot be easy to think when danger arrives, so we need to be prepared. We will scatter these drills throughout the school year, as well as fire drills.   [Click here to finish reading.]
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
The Book Fair is up and running! The boys are very excited about the new books and displays. Fair hours will be 8-3:30pm THIS Monday (10/30) through Thursday (11/2). We will begin packing up on Friday at noon. Please feel free to shop any time during those hours. Make your purchases before and after the Halloween parties. Don't forget to take a look at our wonderful raffle prizes (tix $0.50/each)! Come enjoy this fun reading event!
HELP SEA ADMISSIONS OUT
Some of the most effective marketing of SEA takes place when our current families 'like', 'share', 'retweet', and 'comment' on SEA social media posts and events with which they connect. As we enter our busy Admissions season, we appreciate any social media savvy folks to help us get the word out about the special things happening at SEA.  If any current parents could take the time to complete this brief, 3-question survey for us by 10/31, we would appreciate it! Spread the word about important Admissions dates:Open House for Prospective Families - Tuesday, 11/7 at 9am Admission Testing for current year Transfers & September 2018 - Saturday, 11/18 at 9am

CONGRATS TO OUR 2017-2018 WINNER
Since the first week of school, Mrs. Downs' sixth grade art students have been working on their submissions for the  Lions Club's Annual Peace Poster Contest. Many students put in extra work before or after school, during their enrichment period and even at recess!  This year's winner is Max Kelleher! His poster will go on to the Claymont Lions Club to compete against the winners from other schools. There then is a regional competition (and so on) until there is a 2017 world winner.
