GET INVOLVED SCHOOL CALENDAR GIVE
FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL
Dear SEA Families,
Who doesn’t love a great ‘comeback’ story? … watching underdogs compete against giants? I so love to watch sports, and I have always been a Philadelphia fan. As you know, this has not always been an easy road. When I taught second grade (over 25 years ago), my entire classroom was dedicated to Philly teams- Eagles in the fall, 76ers in the winter, and the Phillies in the spring. I recall being slightly out of control during football season. I determined the amount of homework the students were assigned each Monday night based on the W or L for the Eagles! Students would come in cheering if they won big because they knew it was a free night. I eventually had to stop this craziness because the Eagles started on a downward spiral, and I was worried my students had too much homework on Monday nights! After so many years of disappointment, though, this might be the year to reinstate the Eagles Monday Night homework policy! A ‘10-2’ record would make me the favorite teacher of the year. Going from 7-9 last year to 10-2 this year?!
So I’ve digressed into sports again (as per usual) but we know the correlation being made here: Life is made of comeback stories. Our boys need to be reminded of their own comeback stories- maybe they made the basket they never thought they could, or conquered the monkey bars when they couldn’t picture themselves doing so or maybe they rebounded from a low grade. These are comeback moments. Comebacks take determination, humility and grit. God is with us in redemption. The Bible has...   [Continue Reading]
FROM THE THOS P. SWEENEY LIBRARY
SEA received a check from Chick-fil-A this week in the amount of $359.97! Thank you for supporting this fundraising event. We are still waiting to hear the total from our Barnes & Noble event that same evening. Please remember we collect Box Tops all year. Our next Box Tops Blitz will start Monday, January 22nd. Thank you to the Hancox, McKinney & Rubio families for their recent donations.
FACULTY & STAFF CHRISTMAS FUND
For many years, it has been customary for SEA families (if they desire) to make a contribution to the Faculty & Staff Christmas Fund which is distributed among all of the members of the faculty & staff. Many families find this option attractive because it eliminates the need to purchase individual gifts. You may contribute any amount to this fund, and there is certainly no obligation to participate. If you do take part, please send checks (payable to SEA with 'Christmas Fund' in the memo line) to the attention of Bill D’Amato by 12pm on Tuesday, December 19th. Thank you!
STUDENT COUNCIL UPDATE
Make a Wish Week is in full swing. Yesterday, SEA Student Council sold $2 Make a Wish Bracelets & Penny Wars began. Today we voted for which teacher or staff member MIGHT be duct taped to the wall. SPREAD the WORD for SEA ADMISSIONS
Some of the most effective marketing of SEA takes place when our current families 'like', 'share', 'retweet', and 'comment' on SEA social media posts and events with which they connect. As we enter our busy Admissions season, we appreciate any social media-savvy folks to help us get the word out about the special things happening at SEA.  Spread the word! We have Admission Testing for current year transfers or Fall 2018 TOMORROW, Sat., 12/9.
